Coachella Valley
The Coachella Valley is home to fantastic spa and wellness community. With tourism being the primary economic driver, spas and wellness centers have been a stronghold in this area for many years. “The Desert” is approximately 111 miles east of Los Angeles and 136 miles northeast of San Diego. Golf, swimming, tennis, hiking and spa going in the nearby desert and mountain areas are major forms of recreation and leisure. Nine adjacent cities make up the Coachella Valley (Palm Springs area).
The Coachella Valley is one of the fastest-growing areas in the country, due in part to its location in Riverside County, California, and to real estate booms in the 1990s. The area, made of nine incorporated cities, has a total population of over 400,000, twice the number of 1990 (185,000) and three times than in 1980 (80,000). State projections estimate that the valley’s population will pass 600,000 by the year 2020 and 1.1 million by 2066. Demographers believe the total population already surpassed the 500,000 mark, plus 100,000 temporary seasonal residents known as “snowbirds” arrived to stay during the Winter months.
The Coachella Valley Network Chapter for the CSA includes a diverse range of spa professionals.
